How it works

AI phone ordering for UK takeaways and restaurants

A customer opens your menu, taps your dedicated Dial4.food number and says what they want. The assistant takes the order from your menu, reads it back with the total, and sends the confirmed order to your kitchen.

What you get

A channel of your own, set up for you.

Powered by Posso AI, the technology behind the conversation, the menu rules and the order delivery.

  • A restaurant page

Your menu, prices, opening hours and order options on your own Dial4.food page.

  • A dedicated number

A phone number for Dial4.food orders, separate from the line your staff answer.

  • Your menu, set up properly

Sizes, options, extras and the rules between them, so the assistant asks the right questions.

  • Read-back before sending

The caller hears the full order and the total, and can change it before confirming.

  • Orders where you work

Confirmed orders reach Posso POS, a Posso order terminal or a supported kitchen printer.

  • Reporting

Calls, orders and sales in one place, so you can see what the channel is doing.

The call

What the assistant handles.

The example beside this is a simulation using a sample menu, not a recording of a real call.

  • Sizes and portions, such as regular or large.
  • Extras and toppings, added at the right price.
  • Items left out, such as no salt or no onions.
  • Changes mid-call, including replacing something already ordered.
  • Collection or delivery, where you offer delivery yourself.
  • The full order and total read back before anything is sent.

Example call · Harbour Lights Fish Bar

  1. Customer

Two cod and chips — make one large — and no salt on the other.

    • 2 × Cod and chips
    • Size: large ×1
    • Remove: salt ×1
  2. Dial4 AI

Certainly. That's one large cod and chips, plus one regular cod and chips without salt. Is that correct?

    • Read back
  3. Customer

Yes. And a mushy peas… actually, make that a curry sauce.

    • Correction
    • Curry sauce, not mushy peas
  4. Dial4 AI

No problem, a curry sauce instead of mushy peas. Is that for collection or delivery?

    • Menu and price checked
  5. Customer

    Delivery, please. 14 Mill Lane.

    • Delivery
    • Address given
  6. Dial4 AI

That's 14 Mill Lane, LE2 7HU. With delivery your total is £25.30. Shall I send it to the kitchen?

    • Address confirmed
    • Total read back
  7. Customer

    Yes please.

    • Order confirmed
  8. Order confirmed and sent to Harbour Lights Fish Bar

Simulated conversation using a sample menu. Delivery areas, payment options and order destinations depend on each restaurant's setup.

On your demo

Five things worth asking about.

These depend on how your restaurant runs, so we work through them with you rather than assume an answer.

  • What happens on a call the assistant cannot complete, and how you want that handled.
  • How an item that sells out mid-service gets marked unavailable.
  • Whether payment during the call is right for you, or payment on collection and delivery.
  • Which printer, terminal or POS the ticket should reach, and what hardware you already have.
  • How your delivery areas, minimum order and charges should be applied.

Getting started

What setup involves.

  1. 1

    Send us your menu

Prices, sizes and options as you use them today.

  2. 2

    We set up the channel

Your page, your number and the route into your kitchen.

  3. 3

    Test, then go live

Hear a call end to end, then start promoting your number.

Questions about the service

Is this a robot reading a script?

No. The caller talks normally and the assistant asks follow-up questions using your menu. It will not understand everything perfectly, which is why the whole order and the total are read back before anything reaches your kitchen.

What happens if something is unavailable?

The assistant works from your live menu, so anything marked unavailable is not offered. Keeping that up to date during service is part of running the channel well, and we cover how to do it during setup.

How are allergy questions handled?

Allergen and dietary information comes from the restaurant. Customers are told to raise allergies on the call and to check directly with the restaurant before eating. Do not treat the assistant as an allergen advice service.

Can customers pay during the call?

That depends on your setup. Many restaurants take payment on collection or delivery, and online payment through Posso Pay is available through supported restaurant setups. We confirm what applies to you before you go live.

Does it work with my existing POS?

It works with Posso POS, Posso order terminals and supported kitchen printers. For another POS, tell us which one on the demo and we will tell you what is possible rather than assume it will connect.

What do I need to get started?

Your current menu with prices and options, a decision about how orders should reach your kitchen, your collection and delivery arrangements, and half an hour for a demo.

Hear it take an order.
